Hearing The 12 is not for everyone

Whenever I create a new course, I spend just as much time thinking about who it isn't for as who it is.
Hearing The 12 is no exception.
It isn't for dancers looking for another choreography to memorise.

It isn't for people who expect to understand flamenco in a weekend.

And it isn't really for anyone who's happy dancing the steps without ever wondering how the music actually works.

Those are all perfectly valid ways to enjoy flamenco.

They're simply not what this course is about.
So who is it for?
It's for the dancer who's still quietly carrying around that annoying question they've probably asked themselves dozens of times:

"Is this the 12?"

It's for the person who

→ occasionally loses their place in the compás.
→ catches themselves glancing sideways to see what everyone else is doing.
→ feels a little nervous when Bulerías begins because they aren't quite sure where they are.
→ watches other, more experienced dancers and wonders, "How do they all seem to know what's happening?"

If any of that sounds familiar, you're certainly not alone.

In fact, it's one of the most common frustrations I hear from dedicated flamenco dancers.

The real problem
Most dancers aren't struggling because they lack commitment.

They're struggling because so much flamenco teaching focuses on steps, choreography and counting, while not always talking about the part that helps everything make sense.

🤔 How do you actually hear the compás?
🤔 What are you listening for?
🤔 How do dancers know when to come in?
🤔 How do they seem so relaxed when the music changes?

These are the things that often go unexplained.
What Hearing The 12 does differently
Rather than giving you more choreography to remember, Hearing The 12 helps you begin recognising the patterns already sitting inside the music.

The goal isn't to turn you into an expert overnight.

It's something much simpler.

To help you stop guessing.

Because once you stop asking, "Is this the 12?" every few moments, you can finally start relaxing into the music instead of worrying about it.

And that's when flamenco starts feeling much more enjoyable.

If you've been carrying that question around for longer than you'd like, I'd love to help you answer it.

Hi, I'm Belinda
I help flamenco dancers understand how flamenco actually works.

Many dancers tell me after taking my lessons they suddenly think:

"Oh... now I understand what's happening."

That moment never gets old.

See here why my teaching is different.
