Mixing up the marcajes

Mixing up the marcajes 🤸🏼‍♀️🤸🏼‍♂️
How well do you know your marcajes for Bulerías Por Fiesta?

Do you have enough to mix it up and keep it fresh?

Sometimes it's enough to change up the arms or the direction while keeping the steps the same.

But your best bet is to practice and know inside out a minimum of 5 different marcajes! That way your moves won't get stale on stage.. ✔

❌ Don't wait till you're dancing live to try and come up with variations - that will just prevent you from being able to focus on the cante.

And as we all know, the #1 thing when improvising Bulerías Por Fiesta is ... listening out for the cues from the cantaor/a so you can come in at the right time with your super cool remate 😎

Am I right?? 😉

Your turn!

I love finding new marcajes to use, and I've recorded a few of the ones I use to share with you – I hope you like them and can use them in your next patada!

🧰 WATCH the short videos, LEARN the marcajes, and PUT them in your Bulerías toolbox ready for your next Fin de Fiesta moment 🤸‍♂️🤸

💡 TIP
If the marcaje starts to feel too samesy, you can change it up by varying your arms..

.. Same marcaje + Different arms = NEW marcaje!!

If you've ever felt like you're learning steps...
but not quite understanding what's happening in the dance
You're not alone
Flamenco becomes much clearer when you begin to see how the music, singing, and movement fit together
That's what we work with inside The Online Dance Studio
A space where dancers learn to listen, recognise, and respond
— not just remember
A space where you can finally hear what's going on
— and know what to do with it
Hi, I'm Belinda
I teach flamenco in a way that helps dancers understand what they're doing and why, so they can dance with intention and enjoyment

Many dancers tell me after taking my lessons they suddenly think: "Oh... now I understand what's happening."

That moment never gets old
