But.. for the longest time, I knew nothing about improvisation
the singing all sounded the same
I couldn't hear the cues in the music
and I definitely did not volunteer to get up and improvise at any Fin de Fiestas
I was way too terrified to go out 'in the middle' – because none of it made sense to me
It wasn't until I took the time to understand the letra, bit by bit - and see how the steps fit in, one compás at a time - that things clicked into place for me
I discovered there is
ONE common structure for singing the letra for a dancer who is improvising
ONE structure for dancing to this letra that works every time
AND... the caída falls in ONE place, every time
Figuring out these 'rules' for Fin de Fiesta really helped me to start getting it
If you're like I was, and wondering why you're struggling to improvise or find the whole thing confusing, it might be because you don't yet have these foundations in place
That's why I'm hosting this workshop - to share with you all I've learnt, so you too can learn to improvise easily
I believe its helpful to have some space to let it all sink in...
I've been to Bulerías workshops before and walked away still confused - learning how to improvise in just one hour can lead to information overwhelm 😵💫
The goal of my workshops is for you to understand how to improvise without the pressure of having to perform - integration then implementation
🎼
Day 1will be about the foundations - what does a letra look like, sound like, how does it work
☕️
Take home all this information, sleep on it, revise it for bonus points
💃
Day 2 we'll put simple steps to the letra and learn how to improvise with ease
If you've been to Bulerías classes or workshops before and its still not making sense - this is the workshop you need to be at!!
